A Jersey City woman says that she was sitting at home watching “The Price is Right” when she was nearly struck by a stray bullet.
Iris Cueto says that she was sitting in her living room watching TV Monday morning when the shooting occurred.
“I said, ‘Let me see what that lady won’…and as soon as I did that, the bullet came through at the table here. I turned around and there’s a chip in the table and then it hit the radiator and then fell on the floor,” she says.
Cueto says that she dove for cover and started to scream for her husband to stay upstairs.
“I crawled to the kitchen and then I called 911,” she says.
Cueto was not hurt, but she says that the incident has left her shaken.
“You hear about that happening to other people, but you never think it’s going to happen to you,” she says.
While only one bullet went through Cueto’s home, several more were found a short distance away outside the home of William Lee.
“It sounded like ‘boom, boom, boom.’ Like that,” Lee says.
Residents say that the shooting is another sign that the neighborhood is changing.
“I’ve been living here 29 years and it’s sad, but for the past three years it’s been pretty bad around here,” Cueto says.
News 12 New Jersey reached out to the Jersey City Police Department for details about the shooting, but did not hear back.
