In this week's Paws & Pals, the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter presented three dogs looking for their 'furever' homes.
Blaire is almost 9 years old, spayed female, and a Terrier mix. She came to the shelter as a stray in March 2016, making her their longest resident. Blaire has been waiting way too long for her forever home, and we are hoping and praying that her family finds her soon. Blaire waited in the shelter a very long time, but thankfully, a foster home opened up and this is where Blaire is now. Blaire is house trained, crate trained and walks well on a harness. She is also very sweet and affectionate with her person. Blaire is the perfect combination of couch potato and "mini-athlete!" She loves to run around in the yard, but also is really mellow inside. Blaire loves treats, attention, and to watch TV! Blaire needs a solo-pet home, and a savvy owner, who can help her get used to new people as she can sometimes be scared when meeting new folks. Blaire is very petite and really sweet!
Rico is a little sweetie who came to the shelter as a stray in June 2019. He was found, soaking wet from the rain, with rips on his ear and tongue. Rico is about 5 years old, house trained, and just a chill kind of dude. Rico is a bit nervous with new people, but once he trusts you, he makes a great best friend. Rico is not happy at the shelter, so he has to be housed in a very quiet area, making him hard to be seen by the public. He is a hidden gem who is sure to make one incredible companion. Rico's ideal home is with an adult only, quiet household and he has to be the only pet in the home.
Trucker was found tied to a light pole. He is 5 years old and as handsome as can be. Trucker is said to be house trained and crate trained, and loves to play with toys. Trucker is looking for a savvy owner who can teach him boundaries and give him structure while also understanding that he needs to be slowly introduced to new people. Trucker is looking for a solo pet home. Trucker's walkers at the shelter love him very much and say he is very smart and loves to play fetch! Trucker is sure to make an amazing companion.
