The pandemic is putting music venues across Long Island and the country at risk – so Long Island's Piano Man is stepping in to help.
Billy Joel has put his name on a request to Congress for federal assistance for independent music venues.
The move is in support of the National Independent Venue Association, which says without financial help 90% of those places may never open again.
Joel joins 600 other musicians and comedians on the letter, including fellow Long Islanders Amy Schumer and Jerry Seinfeld.
The letter says the collapse of this crucial element in the music industry's ecosystem would be devastating.
