Long Beach: Surf, sand, sun and a day away to the City By the Sea

Surf, sand, sun and a day away to the City By the Sea, on this Road Trip: Close to Home to Long Beach.
The big attraction is 3 1/2 miles of beautiful beach. You can buy a nonresident day pass Monday through Thursday, and rent umbrellas and chairs right on the beach.
Stop by Skudin Surf Shop to sign up for a surf lesson. You can learn how to catch a wave.
Or you can walk, or bike, the 2 1/4 mile boardwalk.
There are plenty of places to eat beginning with breakfast at Riptides. With your toes in the sand, and a juice in your hand, you’ll feel like you are on a tropical vacation.
Little ones love to visit the playground, and getting a treat! Marvel Frozen Dairy just opened its second location on the boardwarlk.
If you want to venture off of the boardwalk, there's even more to do in the West End.
For something sweet stop by the Dough Hut.
And there’s so much shopping! Codfish Cowboy is a local favorite for fun gifts and beachy vibes.
And you can extend your beach day into an overnight stay at The Allegria Hotel. Guests can enjoy an exclusive rooftop lounge.
