Several people were hospitalized overnight following a crash in Lake Grove early Saturday.

Suffolk County police say the accident happened on Nesconset Highway around 1 a.m.

They say a BMW caught on fire after colliding with a minivan. The BMW's engine then detached and was blocking the highway.

Police say the driver of the BMW was issued several traffic citations for refusing a pre-screen breath test, running a red light and speeding.

He was taken to the hospital along with the driver of the minivan and three passengers.

No one was seriously injured.
