A Shirley widow is claiming Suffolk police used excessive force when an officer shot and killed her husband in front of their home in 2018.

Terry Kellogg claims her husband, Walter, was shot six times and killed in December of that year by 7th Precinct Officer Frank Santanello. She has filed a civil lawsuit against the officer, saying the fatal shooting was a clear case of excessive force.

She says her husband was suicidal and depressed following the death of their daughter, and she had called 911 to get him help.

Two other women also spoke at the press conference in front of the Central Islip Court House Tuesday, citing an alleged pattern of excessive force by Santanello.

Fran Farley, a retired Suffolk County court officer, claims Santanello threw her to the ground during a 911 call in 2019.

Another woman, Jessica Rogers, says she was also injured by Santanello back in 2012. However, the allegations were found to be unsubstantiated.

According to the attorney for Terry Kellogg, a secret grand jury has been convened to look into the allegations surrounding the shooting. The district attorney would not comment.

News 12 reached out to Santanello's attorney for comment but did not hear back.

A spokesperson from the Suffolk County executive's office tells News 12, "We take allegations of law enforcement misconduct very seriously. Out of respect to the investigation process, we will decline to comment further."
