Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone provided his daily news update Monday, talking about continued drops in COVID-19 figures and protests in the county.
Briefing Notes:
- Thanks the state for allowing in-person graduation ceremonies.
- Asked for more flexibility in terms of the amount of people allowed (currently 150).
- In terms of protests, Bellone says there have been 85 protests around the county and they have been 'across the board, peaceful.'
- Says he received a report of an incident at Smithtown protest - says Hate Crimes Unit is investigating it. Says he has no details beyond that. Police say because it is active they don't want to give out too much information, but say they've assigned additional resources.
NUMBERS
- 'The numbers remain in a good place': Additional 48 new COVID-19 patients.
- 15,057 positive antibody tests.
- Hospitalizations continue to decline - decrease in patients by 21. Down to 158 in total.
- 4 new deaths - toll hits 1,935.
- ICU bed occupants remain the same - 50 total.
- Hospital capacity - 63%. ICU bed capacity - 56%.
- 26 COVID-19 hospital discharges.
