The LIRR says it is adding more than 100 cars to trains to handle the reopening of Long Island.
The move translates to a 15% increase in capacity, and now more than 800 cars are on the rails.

Officials say it’s to help avoid overcrowded trains and keep riders spread apart.

The LIRR also has 120 more cars on stand-by in case ridership dramatically spikes.

Riders are still required to wear face masks, and the LIRR will continue regular disinfection of its trains and stations.
