'This is a new beginning:' Suffolk hospitalizations see big drop as phase 1 of reopening begins

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone gave his Wednesday COVID-19 update as some businesses in Suffolk began to reopen, and numbers took a sizable drop in county hospitals.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone gave his Wednesday COVID-19 update as some businesses in Suffolk began to reopen, and numbers took a sizable drop in county hospitals.
Briefing Notes:
- Bellone: 'This is a big day ... this is a new beginning. We have been through some trying times. We weren't expecting this, we certainly had no playbook for it.' As phase one of reopening begins on LI.
- 'The focus is on getting this business activity going.' Mentions business recovery unit, initiatives to support small businesses.
- Bellone agrees with Cuomo's want to invest in infrastructure - in 20 years in public life, says he has talked about upgrading infrastructure the entire time. 
- Suffolk formally launching Virtual Career and Talent Portal.
- Bellone says he hasn't heard of any business being non-compliant in day one of phase 1.
- 39,258 total COVID-19 cases -- additional 59 cases in past 24 hours -- 'that's a good number.'
- 12,694 total positive antibody tests.
- 305 total COVID-19 hospitalizations - decrease by 30.
- ICU bed occupants drop by 12 to 95 total -- under 100 for first time in awhile.
- 10 additional COVID-19 deaths -- total of 1,861.
