John's Crazy Socks is creating some new footwear to honor health care heroes, with all proceeds going to great causes.
When it comes to selling socks, John Cronin has always put his best foot forward. Cronin, who has Down syndrome, co-founded the company in Melville four years ago and has built a successful sock empire with a unique mission -- spreading happiness through socks.
"There are a lot of heroes rising to the occasion, but none doing greater work than the front-line medical workers," says Mark Cronin, John's dad and co-founder of the company. "The doctors, the nurses, technicians, the staff. And we wanted to say thank you."
John is saying thanks by creating a new line of fun footwear designed to honor medical workers. Among the designs are people wearing scrubs with capes on their backs.
Sales of the "Healthcare Superhero" socks and the "This Hero Wears Scrubs" footwear will benefit The American Nurses Foundation and the COVID-19 Relief Fund at Good Samaritan Hospital.
"Five dollars from each pair is going back to support the real superheroes -- the medical workers on the front lines," says Mark Cronin.
Presales of the socks have already raised $8,000. The Cronins will present a check, socks and some sweet treats to Good Samaritan Hospital.
