Hard-hit Huntington Station community receives 'H.O.P.E.' through food project

Some of Suffolk's Finest joined volunteers Thursday to hand out free meals to hundreds of residents living in coronavirus hot spots.
Huntington Station has been hit hard by the coronavirus. So twice a week, Suffolk police officers are working with a food pantry, Project H.O.P.E. and local restaurants to give out food to those in need.
"They're in danger right now, they're in food danger, they're in health danger, and the need is much greater," says Project H.O.P.E.'s Dan Diviney. "Everything that is happening is by the goodness of people's hearts that fund what we do."
Community members are given a hot meal, as well as a bag of food that can be take back to their families.
"It feels amazing that we can actually help out, this is the least that we can do," says Chanisra Thongpanich, of Ra-Cha Thai.
Because the need for food has skyrocketed, Project H.O.P.E. is in dire need of donations. If you would like to help, click here.
