Nassau’s first responders saluted hospital workers ending their 12-hour shift and those just beginning one outside North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset earlier this week.
The special salute on Tuesday, April 7, was captured on video. The emotionally taxed Northwell Health staff on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic got a boost from the signs and applause, thanking them for their life-saving work.
The Island Now reported that the first responders outside the hospital included members of the Albertson Fire Co., Great Neck Vigilant Fire Co., Great Neck Alert Fire Co., Manhasset-Lakeville Fire Department, Nassau County Police Department, Port Washington Fire Department, Roslyn Rescue, and Williston Park Fire Department.
Other salutes to hospital staff have been seen across Long Island and all over the nation.
