Nassau Executive Curran stresses ‘next few weeks will be challenging,’ as death toll climbs

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says there are over 8,500 cases of COVID-19 in the county – a 1,200 increase in cases since Monday.

A total of 1,130 people are hospitalized for COVID-19-related symptoms and 266 patients are currently in the ICU. Curran announced the death tally in the county increased by 15 – bringing the total deaths in the county to 63. The ages ranged from 33 years old to 97 years old.

Curran stressed "these next few weeks will be very challenging."

Officials say they are working to makes sure equipment is being giving to those on the front lines, including hospitals, police and medics.

The county says it is buying ventilators.
