Efforts to show appreciation for health care workers facing the brunt of the coronavirus pandemic have popped up nationwide, include right here on Long Island
Anthony Musumeci organized a "caravan of encouragement" for workers at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.
"Everybody feels the same way, everybody feels they have to let them know, hey, thank you, we're with you, we're all in this together," says Musumeci.
The hospital workers took time from their fight to come outside and see the community's support for them. Those who came to see the caravan said they had no idea what to expect when they walked outside, but what they got was dozens of people lined up in their cars with signs of support.

"It's hard not to get emotional, to know what the staff are going through and what the community must be thinking and feeling, the outpouring of support from the community has been amazing," says Ralph Corbino.
In Oceanside at Mount Siani South Nassau, a special delivery of groceries came in for nurses and doctors.
"They barely have time to take a break. The idea of this is they're getting some basic food supplies, milk, bread, some power bars, that they can take home with them," says Joe Calderone. "One less thing for them to have to do."

The acts of kindness are small gestures that have made a big impact.
"It means the world, it allows us to wake up tomorrow to know that there's a real purpose to wanting to do this again, for however long this takes, we're not going anywhere," says Corbino.
