Fairfield has reported its first death due to the novel coronavirus.

The victim is said to be an 85-year-old man with underlying medical conditions.

Fairfield has at least 20 residents with the virus.

First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick offered her condolences to the family of the victim.

"The loss of one of our residents underscores the vital importance to follow health professionals' advice," Kupchick says. "So that we can protect each other as this pandemic will continue to impact our town."
