Nassau officials report 8 more COVID-19 -related deaths

Nassau officials say there are currently 4,657 cases of COVID-19 in the county and a total of 27 deaths.

Eight new deaths were reported Friday, including five men and three women ranging in age between 51 and 83 years old.

During a press conference, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran said hospitals across the area are concerned about personnel, safety equipment and ventilators being available.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the apex of the virus is expected in 21 days.

Curran says, "We have to be frank with the public, this is going to get difficult, this is going to become more of a challenge."

As of Thursday night, there are 696 COVID-19-related hospitalizations in the county. A total of 167 of those patients are on ventilators and 194 are in critical condition.
