NY begins experimental COVID-19 treatment with recovered patients’ blood
Trials will begin Tuesday across New York on an experimental drug therapy for COVID-19.
The therapy involves antibodies from coronavirus patients who have already recovered.
Blood plasma is first taken from a person who was infected with the virus. It is processed, and then antibodies are injected into a person who is sick.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says tests show when a person is injected with antibodies, it stimulates and promotes the immune system to fight the disease.
