Police: Man arrested, charged in Hempstead teen’s murder

A Hempstead man has been arrested and charged in the death of a 19-year-old Hempstead woman.

Sixto Tapia-Angeles is accused of strangling Maria Rodriguez-Perez Saturday night.

It allegedly happened during an argument at her home on Harriman Avenue in Hempstead.

Police say Tapia-Angeles then used a razor to cut his wrists and arms to make it look like it was a double suicide.

Police say this was a domestic violence incident and that Tapia-Angeles had become jealous after their year-and-a-half relationship started to "sour."
