Curran: Nassau County coronavirus death toll reaches 7 as cases climb

Nassau County Executive Laura Curran on Saturday reported three new deaths in the county attributed to COVID-19, for a total of seven so far.
Shortly after Curran spoke, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said there are now 10,356 coronavirus cases in New York - including 6,211 in New York City, 1,234 in Nassau and 662 in Suffolk.
"We have to get ourselves ready for something - mentally ready. Every day the numbers will continue to get bigger," Curran said.
Of all of the county's cases, 39 people are hospitalized, including seven who are in critical condition.
The three new deaths included patients in their 70s and 80s. Two lived in the town of Hempstead and the third lived in the town of North Hempstead, Curran said.
Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said Friday that his county's death toll had also reached seven.
