Despite warnings from Gov. Andrew Cuomo urging people to avoid densely packed gatherings because of coronavirus, some organizations across Long Island are still going ahead with planned events.
At Congregation Beth Ohr in Bellmore, Purim observances will still be held. Rabbi Dahlia Bernstein says there will be lots of sanitizer around.
"This is going to challenge us, but God willing it is going to bring out the best in us," says Rabbi Bernstein.
Nassau County Executive Laura Curran says her State of the County speech scheduled for Wednesday night has been postponed out of an abundance of caution.
"Now is not the time for the State of the County," says Curran. "That can wait."
As for St. Patrick's Day parades, Village of Farmingdale Mayor Ralph Ekstrand say the parade will take place on Sunday.
"Everything is right on schedule," says Ekstrand. "There are no plans to cancel."
Movie theaters are also popular places to go for a lot of people. Some residents say they are going to live their lives and take the necessary precautions when at the theater.
