An apple a day? What to eat to boost your immune system

Fears over the COVID-19 virus have continued to sweep the nation and although there is no vaccine, there are still some ways to give your advantage when it comes to fighting off a virus.
The old adage "an apple a day can keep the doctor away" might be right. Hudson Pointe at Riverdale Center For Nursing and Rehabilitation Chief Dietitian Dee Parnaram says to boost your immune system, you should eat healthily.

Parnaram says that when picking veggies you should look for spinach, bell peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, eggplants and carrots. When it comes to fruits, experts say to go for oranges, mangos, pineapples and berries.

Building a strong immune system may be essential to fighting COVID-19. The most seriously affected by the virus so far have been older adults.
Parnaram says eating and drinking what's known as superfoods like turmeric and green tea can also give your immune system an extra boost.
