Mother of Parkland victim fights gun violence, one student at a time

A Dix Hills mother who lost her son in a high school mass shooting spoke with students at Farmingdale State College Thursday about the work she has done to fight gun violence.
Linda Beigel Schulman's son, Scott Beigel, was a geography teacher who died in the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida two years ago.
Since then, she has been a tireless advocate for gun safety laws on the state and federal level. She has been spreading that message to students across the nation.
"If I can get the conversation going with the students or whoever shows up today, then I've done all I can possible do," she told News 12. "And my mission is to make people aware of how important gun safety legislation is."
Last month, a state bill that would ban untraceable "ghost guns" was named for Scott Beigel.
