Nassau County Executive Laura Curran is encouraging residents to continue going about their lives.

"At this point, there is no reason to change your habits," Curran said. "Continue going to work, continue going to school. Please go to restaurants. I know there was some reluctance for people to go to Chinese restaurants. There was absolutely no danger, you can absolutely go to eat at your favorite restaurant. There is no need to change your habits. Please continue doing what you're doing. But please take care of yourself."

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that he was bringing home 300 SUNY and CUNY students from study abroad programs in five countries with coronavirus outbreaks. Those students are in China, Italy, Japan, Iran and South Korea. The students will be arriving by charter plane to New York where they will be quarantined for 14 days.

He later announced five new cases of coronavirus connected to an initial Hudson Valley case. They are a friend of the 50-year-old and his wife, two sons and daughter. Another daughter tested negative.
