Wantagh home under renovation goes up in flames

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters raced to the scene of a house fire Thursday in Wantagh.

The Wantagh Fire Department says the fire began around 5:40 p.m. at a home on Plymouth Road. They say the fire started on the first floor before spreading to the second floor.

Fire officials say the home is under renovation so it's currently unoccupied.

Eighty-five firefighters from five different departments responded to the call. The fire was under control within an hour.

Fire officials have not yet determined what sparked the flames.
