NYCHA tenant says bathroom ceiling leaks keep resurfacing

Tenants of one New York City Housing Authority apartment claim they have been dealing with a leaky bathroom ceiling for decades.
Ramon Garcia says he has lived in the Claremont Housing Consolidation with his mother, Librada Rodriguez, for 28 years. He says since they moved in, they have dealt with leaks in their bathroom ceiling.
Tenants of the apartment say NYCHA installed a new bathroom ceiling Friday, but Garcia says every time the problem seems to be fixed, it leaks again.
"Every time there's a leak I have to use an umbrella to use the bathroom," Garcia says. "I can slip or break a bone. My mother is sick. For 28 years they fix it, a year comes, and back again to the same thing again."
Garcia uses a wheelchair and the issue sometimes forces him to use a neighbor's bathroom or go to a nearby restaurant.
He says this is the first time NYCHA has installed a new ceiling in their bathroom. He says he and his mother will take a transfer if the ceiling is ruined by a leak.
Garcia says rats are also a major issue in the apartment.
A spokesperson for NYCHA told News 12 they are looking into the issue.
