'Public charge' rule for immigrants seeking green cards on public benefits starts Monday
The controversial so-called "public charge" rule goes into effect on Monday.
It lets federal officials deny green cards to immigrants who use public benefits.
It was green-lighted by the Supreme Court last month in a 5-4 vote.
The White House calls it a win, saying it will protect hardworking taxpayers. But several states opposed the rule, including New York.
Officials in the state said they plan to sue the Trump administration over the policy.
