Bergen County boy lives dream as police officer for the day

Posted: Updated:

This Presidents' Day was very special for a Bergen County boy.

Joseph Bogosian, 8, is a police officer for the day in Rutherford.

He says he has always wanted to be a police officer and is hoping to have a pizza party with his friends to celebrate.

While on the job, Bogosian will inspect a police car, be part of a roll call and write a ticket.

"We are a service-oriented department," says Police Chief John Russo, "We're in the schools every day and we try to get our students, especially our younger students, to get comfortable seeing us so it's not a shock when we come walking into the school."

The program is part of a fundraising effort for the Rutherford Education Foundation.
