Posted: Updated:

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who struck two men, injuring them both, in Bay Shore.

According to police, Victor Gonzalez Arevalo and Danny Ibarra Martinez, both of Brentwood, were walking on the sidewalk of Fifth Avenue around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Police say that is when they were hit by a car turning right from Fifth Avenue onto Fairtown Road. The car never stopped.

Gonzalez was taken to Southside Hospital where he is in critical condition. Ibarra Martinez suffered a minor foot injury.

Gonzalez Arevalo's cousin, Joaquin Lopez-Gonzalez, says his cousin picked up food at El Chalateco Deli in Bay Shore and was walking home when the crash happened.

Detectives believe a white SUV hit the men.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
