Police: Driver hit police car while resisting arrest

Posted: Updated:

A driver was arrested for crashing into a police vehicle after allegedly running from officers.

Officials say it began when officers tried to conduct a welfare check on a driver parked on Broadway in Westbury Saturday night.

They say the man, 35-year-old Genri Palacios Acosta, was seen holding what they believed to be a tube of crack-cocaine.

Before officers could talk to Acosta, he drove off and hit a police car.

He is facing a slew of charges, including resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.
