Comptroller: Wyandanch School District in significant fiscal stress

Posted: Updated:

There is money trouble for school districts across New York State, including several on Long Island.

Officials say Wyandanch is among four school districts statewide in significant fiscal stress.

The state comptroller’s Fiscal Stress Monitoring System flagged 33 districts in 2019. The number is up from the 26 reported in the previous two years.

Officials say the Hempstead, Wantagh, and New Suffolk districts are in moderate fiscal stress.

In addition, the Copiague, Deer Park, Fishers Island, and Roosevelt districts are susceptible to fiscal stress.
