A New Jersey brewery has created a beer that honors former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, who retired from the NFL Friday after 16 seasons with the team.
“So, what we’re pouring here now is a beer called ‘ELI-te Tribute,’ brewed in tribute to Eli Manning,” says Greg Taylor, owner of Colts Neck-based Source Farmhouse Brewery. “So, restrained bitterness, mellow mouth feel and super juicy and fresh.”
The brewery, located along Route 34, has been brewing locally sourced beers since 2017 in a farmhouse that dates to the 1800s. So why create a beer honoring Manning?
“Besides his accolades, and winning two Super Bowls, and two MVPs, and pretty much being in the top 10 of every NFL record, Eli is a great person. He's a great ambassador for the sport. He's a true professional,” says managing partner Phil Petracca.
The beer will only be available in limited quantities. Cans will be available on Monday, but the first round has already sold out. ELI-te Tribute will only be available on draught this weekend.
“We’re just getting it kegged up today. We’ll be pouring it all weekend in the Source Taproom. It will also be available at the Beer Festival on the Sunday session in Asbury Park,” says Taylor.
The beer is a New England IPA, which Source admittedly brewed to throw just the right amount of shade at Giants rivals the New England Patriots.
ELI-te Tribute has an 8% alcohol-by-volume, so celebrate Eli Manning responsibly.
