Macy’s says it will close 2 Long Island stores
Retail giant Macy's is shuttering more than a dozen stores, including two locations on Long Island.
According to a spokesperson for the company, Macy's will be closing the store at the Broadway Mall in Hicksville and the store in Commack.
According to a statement emailed to News 12, clearance sales will take place ahead of the closures:
"After careful consideration, Macy’s has decided to close Macy’s Broadway store in Hicksville, NY and Macy’s Commack store.  A clearance sale will begin in January 2020 and run for approximately 8-12 weeks. Macy’s Commack store will close this summer due to its lease being terminated by the landlord. A clearance sale will begin in May and will run for approximately 7 - 8 weeks."
In 2016, Macy's said that it would close 100 stores after it reported six straight years of declining sales.
