A Freeport woman claims she was assaulted by a Nassau County deputy sheriff who visited her home last month with his partner to serve papers to someone else living there.
Felita Dobbins admits she got aggressive after she says the deputy sheriff threatened to arrest her because she wasn't fully dressed when she answered the door.
Ring doorbell video shows the deputy sheriff apparently throwing the papers at Dobbins before walking away.
Dobbins' daughter claims the deputy sheriff then walked back to the front door and punched Dobbins. Her daughter says she pushed her mother out of the way before shutting the door.
Video shows him apparently raising his right arm with handcuffs in his hand while leaning into the doorway.
The family is now planning on filing a $1 million lawsuit. The Nassau County Sheriff's Office told News 12 in a statement that it won't comment due to pending litigation.
Dobbins says she is also planning to sue the Freeport Police Department. She says when she called police to report the alleged assault, officers didn't take her seriously and follow proper procedure.
The Nassau District Attorney's Office says it learned about the allegations Monday and will be reviewing the situation.
