A young woman will be charged as an adult for her role in a quadruple gang killing in Central Islip.
Federal prosecutors say the unnamed woman was a teen when she played an instrumental role in the 2017 MS-13 machete murders of four young men in a Central Islip park.
Police said female gang members lured victims into the wooded area where male gang members waited to attack.
“They were prepared to carry out the attack, they had weapons with them,” said Suffolk Police Chief Gerard Gigante.
On Monday, an appeals court judge upheld a lower court decision that the young woman, known as "Diablita,” will be prosecuted in federal court as an adult.
According to federal court documents, "Diablita", who was almost 18 years old at the time of the murders, "instigated the murders" by finding photos of the victims on social media flashing MS-13 signs when they were not in the gang.
After the murders, "Diablita" was also allegedly recorded on a jailhouse phone call confessing the murders to her incarcerated boyfriend.

When he asked if she was forced to do it, she allegedly said, “No, I did it myself. I'm telling you, I did it myself. So now is my turn."
The attorney of the young woman said they may appeal the decision.
“Specifically, we are deciding whether or not we want to appeal the second court's decision to the United States Supreme Court,” said the attorney.
Federal court documents also indicate “Diablita,” who was born in Maine, was passed around to relatives, abused, and was drinking heavily and working in a bar by the age of 15.
In addition to "Diablita," four alleged male members of MS-13 are awaiting trial, and two others have already plead guilty and been sentenced to 50 to 55 years in prison.
