The North Massapequa Fire Headquarters went up in flames Christmas morning, destroying three fire engines.
Officials say New York State troopers saw the fire as they were driving by around 6:21 a.m. and called it in.
About 120 firefighters from 20 different departments responded to extinguish the blaze.
The fire appeared to have been focused in the engine bay. North Massapequa Fire Department chief Joe Pesale says along with the engines, an ambulance was also damaged.
He also says that the fire was so intense that firefighters only had time to grab some awards off of the walls. There were no injuries.
The fire chief tells News 12 multiple fire departments across Long Island have offered to loan equipment so that the district will be protected moving forward.
