A raging early morning fire left a Franklin Square family without a home just two days before Christmas.
Thomas Bisogno says he was in the shower around 6:30 a.m. Monday when his girlfriend told him that a fire began in their house on Farnum Boulevard.
He says some of his loved ones were still asleep inside at the time. Fortunately, he says, everyone got out safe.
Bisogno says he's lived in the multifamily home for 30 years. His sister lived upstairs with her family and another sister lived in the basement.
Firefighters say multiple departments battled the blaze.
Bisogno and his family say the damage caused by the fire is especially difficult since it’s so close to Christmas.
Bisogno says he's also battling with his insurance company to get some crucial medicine that was lost in the fire refilled.
The family started a GoFundMe page and has already been able to raise thousands of dollars to help them recover.
Bisogno says his family will be able to spend Christmas Eve together at a sister's house.
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
