A Long Island family is keeping their son's memory alive through acts of kindness, and their effort is getting some big support.
As News 12 has reported, Devin Robles passed after a drowning incident back in 2010. On Sunday, family, friends and supporters toured a Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip to spread cheer to children who may not be home for the holidays.
Military veterans from the Airborne Tri-Team and first responders marched 3 miles from Brightwaters to the hospital to deliver gifts to sick children. Police and ambulance workers took part in the event.
They carried packs of toys to give to the hospital's young patients.
Robles' mother, Delilah, says she wants her son's legacy to live on.
"If all these people come together to put a smile on a child's face in the month of December, it really means a lot to us especially in the memory of our son," she says.
Community Ambulance Company also donated gift certificates to the families of babies in the ICU unit at Southside Hospital.
