Crunch time at the post office as the holidays approach

It's crunch time for postal workers across Long Island as the holidays near.
From last-minute holiday cards to packages from online stores, postal workers are swamped.
"We try and deliver as much as we can and be on time, and deliver on time so people will get it and enjoy the gifts that they get from their family and friends," says postal worker Jong Kwon.
In order for postal workers like Kwon to get all those packages delivered, they must first be sorted at the post office. There are so many packages at the Syosset post office that workers are sorting almost 24 hours a day.
Syosset postmaster Dioenis Perez says the priority mail deadline is Friday. The deadline for priority mail express is Dec. 23 in order for it to be delivered by Dec. 24.
It was estimated that the post office would deliver 28 million parcels Thursday nationwide.
