Police: 2 dead in head-on wrong-way crash in East Quogue

The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday near Exit 64 in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway.

Police say two people have died following a head-on, wrong-way crash in East Quogue.
The crash happened shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday near exit 64 in the westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway.
Police say a Mercedes Benz driven by Gumercindo Tinit-Tezen, 28, of Mastic, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes and struck a Toyota Camry head-on.
The Camry was operated by Michelle Navas, 28, of Hicksville. Navas was pronounce dead at the scene.

Tinit-Tezen was transported to the hospital, but succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision.
Police say no other occupants were in either vehicle.
