Task force reports NY's 1st reduction in opioid overdose deaths in almost 10 years

New York saw its first reduction in opioid overdose deaths in almost 10 years, according to the Heroin and Opioid Task Force Progress Report that looked at numbers from 2018.

New York saw its first reduction in opioid overdose deaths in almost 10 years, according to the Heroin and Opioid Task Force Progress Report that looked at numbers from 2018.
Deaths have decreased by about 16% in the state outside of the city.
State health officials say that the opioid use has been higher beyond the five boroughs, with New York City seeing more overdose deaths involving heroin.
