A Burlington County couple set out to make finding the perfect Christmas tree easier in their town.

Shannon and Lawrence Hart created the first and only Christmas tree lot in Bordentown.

They say they always wanted the community to have a local place to get their trees.

“We used to go to a place off of 195 in Allentown,” says Lawrence Hart. “We used to go and cut a tree down and they had really nice trees, but it was just a long trip to get out there and back. We always thought it be nice if we could bring the tree home on the wagon."

As the couple learned the ins and outs of business, their simple idea that started seven years ago has since turned into Winter Works Christmas Trees.

"I think it was like 50 trees the first year and then…last year was a couple hundred trees, and who knows it'll be this year,” says Lawrence Hart.

The couple says they don't make a lot of money off these trees. In fact, they say it’s more work than it is fun.

They say what keeps their small business going every year are the repeat customers they’ve gotten to know.

Winter Works has recently added a delivery service for customers, so people can now order their trees online as well as in person.
