It's peak mushroom season, the timing is right! News 12's Elizabeth Hashagen got tips from
Whole Foods on how to properly clean mushrooms.
There are over 50 varieties of mushrooms. The common variety is white button and the cremini.
Mushrooms are 92% water - so don't dunk them in water to clean. Take a wet cloth and just wipe them clean of the dirt that is on them, and pop the bottoms off.
The more you dunk them in water, the more absorbent they will be become, and not as tasty.
