Here are the latest business headlines from Cheddar.

The CEO exodus continues at United Airlines. The company announced Thursday that CEO Carlos Munoz will step down in spring of 2020 and will be replaced by current president of United Airlines, Scott Kirby.

Munoz has been at the helm of United for four years. While he has helped grow the company, he may be best remembered for United’s botched response to a 2017 incident where a passenger was dragged off an oversold flight.

A new airbag defect has prompted Takata to recall 1.4 million cars. The new issue can lead to under-inflation, exploding inflators and even flying shrapnel. More than 100,000 BMW 3 Series sedans from 1999 to 2001, and others from Audi, Honda, Toyota, and Mitsubishi are among the vehicles in the recall.

Billionaire hedge fund manager Steve Cohen is in advanced talks to buy the New York Mets. Cohen is reportedly considering increasing his stake in the franchise up to 80%, taking over a majority interest from the Wilpon family.

The Wilpons have been owners of the Mets for nearly 40 years.
