Family of Anguillian resort worker files suit against Darien man charged in his death
The family of an Anguillian resort worker has filed a lawsuit against the Darien man charged in his death.
The estate of Kenny Mitchel claims Scott Hapgood caused his death in Anguilla by unnecessarily pinning him to the floor and pushing down against his neck.
The estate also claims Hapgood hit Mitchel repeatedly over a 30-minute period.
Hapgood says it was Mitchel who attacked him and he was defending his family.
The Darien man refused to attend his last court hearing, saying he feared for his safety.
The suit seeks punitive and compensatory damages.
