A Queens woman driving without a license and with children inside the car attempted to bite New Canaan police officers during a welfare check, police say. 

The incident happened on Sept. 24, near the area of Park and Pine streets.

Kaela A. Augustine, 26, of Queens, turned herself into New Canaan police Monday and is facing multiple charges. 

Police say on the night of Sept. 24, they arrived on scene after receiving a 911 call for a woman in distress. 

Officers say they observed Augustine inside of a car with two young children, and when they approached her she was incoherent and uncooperative.

Police say Augustine attempted to bite the officers who were trying to help her. She was later transported to Norwalk Hospital for an evaluation.

She is facing multiple charges, including risk of injury to a minor, driving without a license, breach of peace and possession of marijuana.
