Snow snarls Monday evening commute

Snow created a messy Monday evening commute for drivers on Long Island.
Officials in both counties said snow trucks and plows were ready to clear the roads of any accumulation.
"Currently, we have 40 pieces of equipment out there spreading sand and salt on all of our roads," said Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino.
Tuesday's morning commute could also be messy if the snow continues overnight.
Nassau County opened warming centers for residents who need to get out of the cold. Officials are reminding residents about the homeless hotline. Anyone who needs help can call 1-866-WARM BED or 927-6233.
