Police say two women were hurt in a hit-and-run in North Lindenhurst Tuesday night.
According to police, 20-year-old Colleen Curry and 20-year-old Kaitlynn McNamara were crossing from the north side of Sunrise Highway to the south side near North Delaware Avenue just before midnight when they were struck by an unknown vehicle going westbound.
Police say the car sped away after hitting the women.
Both victims were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital. Police say Curry was seriously injured and McNamara suffered minor injuries.
McNamara posted on Facebook saying, "The car blew a red light (most likely intoxicated) and hit us head on at around 70mph, leaving me injured and my friend in serious condition. If anyone knows ANYTHING about the driver/accident please reach out..."
Police have not confirmed how fast the car was going. Residents in the area say the part of Sunrise Highway the women were crossing is often seen as a speedway.
Police do not have a description of the vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
