A family shelter in Soundview is opening the door for new activities, giving young residents access to unlimited stories, imagination and creativity.
Thursday was ribbon-cutting day at the Lafayette Family Residence, where kids were treated to a read-along.
The library was made possible through a partnership with Books for Kids Foundation. The organization filled the shelves with a broad range of reads.
Department of Homeless Services Administrator Joslyn Carter says it's a space where kids can simply be kids and where books can serve as a bridge to new worlds.
