Funeral held in Wantagh for soldier killed in WWII

Second Lt. John McTigue was co-piloting a B-17 over Germany during WWII when he was shot down and listed as missing in action.

A funeral was held Monday morning for a soldier killed in action 75 years ago.
Second Lt. John McTigue was co-piloting a B-17 over Germany during WWII when he was shot down and listed as missing in action.
His remains were buried first in Germany, and later moved to a cemetery in France.
Recently, his brother Thomas, who lives in Wantagh, was contacted by a woman who works to identify missing airmen from WWII.
After DNA testing, McTigue's remains were identified and returned to his family.
McTigue's funeral was held at St. Frances de Chantal Church in Wantagh.
