Man sentenced to prison overseas in slaying of college student from LI

The man convicted of killing a Binghamton University student from Westbury was sentenced by Nicaraguan court Friday.

A Nicaraguan judge ordered Orlando Tercero to spend 30 years in prison.

As News 12 has reported, the dual citizen fled the U.S. after strangling Haley Anderson in his off-campus house in March of 2018, according to authorities.

Nicaraguan officials refused to extradite Tercero to the U.S. He was convicted in her death in Nicaragua.

Legal experts say if he ever comes back to the U.S., he could be prosecuted here.
